Haringey Forest
Welcome!
We are incredibly excited to share with all residents of Haringey our new “Haringey Forest” initiative.
Haringey Forest is dedicated in promoting and distributing tree whips across our borough. This project is all about raising awareness of need for action to combat the climate crisis we all are faced with. MTO Shahmaghsoudi , School of Islamic Sufism in Crouch End collaborated with Mike Jenn from Kentish Town Transition Network in distributing tree whips in April 2021. This was the start of our “Haringey Forest” project which allows for great community engagement and impactful discussions across all ages.
Trees are beautiful; they mark the passing of the seasons; they raise our spirits with blossom in summer and russet leaves in autumn; and they provide habitats and food for birds and wildlife, and pollen for pollinators such as bees and insects. Perhaps most importantly of all, mature trees absorb the carbon dioxide that is one of the main contributors of the current climate crisis.
MTO Sustainability has made links with Carbon Footprint Ltd as well as Trust for Conservation Volunteers in order to source the tree whips which are then distributed amongst the local residents of Haringey.
